St.
Patrick's School has adopted The House System for its student body.
WHAT ARE "HOUSES"?
Houses are three subdivisons of the student body, each house being
identified by a colour, either Blue, Green or Yellow. This system
was created years ago in British schools and was later adopted by
many institutions in Argentina.
Through the House System's structure, students participate in
intra-school sports and academic competitions accumulating points
for their House. However, points are also deducted for disciplinary
measures taken against House members. In addition, teams of House
members take part in community work projects and campaigns. At the
end of the school year, the house which has accumulated the highest
number of points is awarded a trophy.
The aim of the House System is to promote competitive spirit amongst
students without falling into extremes, which at times are very much
present in our individualistic ways and consumerism. Companionship
and solidarity are the foremost values within the House System.
After nominations have been accepted and platforms presented, on St.
Patrick's Day, March 17th, the student body, divided into their
respective colours, choose through a formal election process their
Captain for the current year. Captains are 5th year secondary
students, vice-captains are 4th year secondary students and 6th
grade primary students. These students will have the responsibility
of representing their members with dignity and dedication throughout
the school year.
