SISTER CITIES EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

St. Patrick’s School takes part in the Sister Cities Exchange Programme between the town of Aspen, USA and the city of Bariloche, Argentina.

BACKGROUND
From the beginning of the programme, in 2001, St. Patrick's School's participation has been very active, having already received more than seventy students accompanied by teachers from both Aspen Middle School and Aspen High School. We have also been honoured with visits by outstanding members of Aspen's community.
Many students from our school have also travelled to Aspen, as a part of the Sister Cities Educational Exchange Programme.

I want to emphasize that these exchanges have changed our lives. Apart from travelling, the experiences lived and the friendships that have flourished in both cities are unimaginable.

Lillian Rowe - Committee Representative for the Sister Cities Exchange Programme

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAMME ENTAIL?
The exchange programme allows young secondary students to travel for a two week period to Aspen, USA in the month of October and Aspen Middle School students to travel to Bariloche in the month of April.
During these two weeks, the students are hosted by families and enjoy educational, cultural and recreational field trips combined with attending regular classes in the host school.
In addition, fifth year students have the opportunity to take part in an extended exchange programmme of three months. They are hosted by families, take part in field trips and attend regular classes.
